Shane Smith is a Canadian drummer. He has performed with the punk rock bands SNFU and Slaveco., and the alternative industrial rock bands Neurosonic and Jakalope.
Smith joined the alternative rock band Ocean3 in 2000.[1] They would go on to release several demos and marginal releases. Around this time, Ocean3 played several tours with the influential[2][3] skate punk band SNFU, whom Smith subsequently joined following previous drummer Trevor McGregor's departure in 2004. He toured with them behind their In the Meantime and In Between Time album prior to the group's disbanding the following year. Smith was also involved with SNFU and Ocean3 members in the side project Slaveco. around this time.
Smith next joined producer Dave Ogilvie's Jakalope project in time to work on their Born 4 album.[4] He also became involved with Neurosonic from 2006–2009.
Following this stint, he rejoined SNFU in early 2009, who had been reactivated two years earlier by singer Ken Chinn and former bassist Ken Fleming.[5] Smith remained with the group for a little over a year, departing in March 2010 on good terms and returning to Calgary to pursue a change in careers.[6] He was replaced by early SNFU drummer Jon Card.
